Thumbs up CrossFire . 1-Typical and less advanced anti-rotation exercises (pallof press ) are pretty good at building core strength and stability. Simply put, the typical anti-rotation movements involve contracting your core and holding it completely still while keeping the rest of the body within one singular plane, or direction, of motion. 2- The CrossFire standing standing position, has better carryover to real life situations, and sports. It allows you to work the anti-rotator functions of the core while being actively in motion. 3- It provides the greatest stimulus to the rectus abdominis, and external obliques far superior than the basic pallof press. 4-It strengthens the core, anterior shoulder girdle muscles, and strengthens the wrist simultaneously. 5- works the hips, pelvis, and groin areas, as it increases forearm and grip strength...in an active sense. 6- It is extremely important during the crossfire, anti-rotation exercise to stabilize your core throughout the entire exercise to prevent your lower spine from rotating. Any rotation should come from your upper back which is designed to rotate.

I call this EZ Bar Oblique Murder...because that's what it is. Really not kidding. . It's a FANTASTIC way to hammer the obliques without any twisting or bending...it's strong anti-flexion in the frontal plane, if you're interested in the biomechanics. . I think it would be phenomenal for tightening up the muscles under the love handles, making them appear smaller and less pronounced (i.e. tighter, smaller waist ). . It works like crazy. . You'll load one end of an EZ curl bar (I have a bar pad on it, but it's probably not necessary...I just happened to be messing around with it at the time ). I have 50 lbs on the loaded end and it was brutal. Definitely start lighter. . Get into the bottom of a lunge position, holding the bar with both hands (to start with ). . Now rest the EZ bar on your thigh with the weighted end on the OTHER side (this is important for balance...if you get it backwards you'll tip over ). . Put your hand on top of the non-weighted end, where the plates normally go. You're going to be pushing down on this end. . The leftmost camber (bent part ) will be set on your thigh. This means the bar is supported OFF-CENTER on your leg, which makes it even worse and more unstable. . Now take your other hand off the bar and push down HARD on the bar end to keep the bar balanced on your leg. . And just HOLD it there for as long as you can. . This is isometric training that will just light up your obliques. . It hits the obliques like nothing you've eve felt before....go heavy for strength and stabilization. . If you want to tighten up the love handles, go with lighter weight and hold for a longer stretch of time. . Key things to focus on are pushing down on the unweighted end while trying to keep the bar horizontal. . want to make sure your ab work is safe AND effective? sometimes, even though we’re engaging in core work, our core isn’t actually doing much. this can happen for a number of reasons, a common one being weakness in one or more layers of the core, or an overactive superficial layer of the core (called the rectus abdominis ) here are a few common cues you'll hear me repeat over and over again in class, with brief explanations for each cue. these might help you establish a connection with your core when you’re practicing on your own 🥰 as you curl up: ⚡️ let your head hang heavy in your hands (this might help you minimize tension or any pulling in the neck muscles ) ⚡️ keep your chin slightly tucked in towards your chest (to maintain length in the back of your neck ) ⚡️ picture your ribs sliding in towards your hips as you lift, and feel that space expand as you lower back down (this might help you notice if you're engaging through the core or if you’re pulling on your neck to lift yourself up 👉🏻 aka not actually strengthening your abdominals and creating neck tension ) ⚡️ lift your shoulder blades off of the mat (extra height = extra work through the deeper abdominals ) ⚡️ feel your belly button contract directly back towards your spine as you lift (this visualization might help you connect to the deepest layer of your core, the transverse abdominis ) note: maintaining an active core while working through ab curls and other variations should help you protect your lower back and neck were any of these helpful to you? let me know below or dm me : ) xo #pilates #pilatesstrength #pilatesflow #corework #abcurls #abpreps #pilatescues #mindbodyconnection #transverseabdominis #obliques #rectusabdominis #lowerbackhealth

Abs are made in the kitchen. This kitchen only serves very small portions of chicken and fish and green veggies. 🤷🏻‍♀️ • Let’s talk abs. What’s the fascination? Well for me it is the biggest indicator of progress. Like many women (and many moms ) my belly is the first to soften and it loves to hold onto all the fun times like a fannypack. 🤣 It is also the one place i can look to when the prep goggles are super foggy to say, ok lady we can do this. BOO-TY 👻 w/a side of arms • • • 15 reps per move (each side ) (Slide 3/4 have multiple moves ) • • • Video 1: inhale as you reach weight to sky, exhale as you bring leg & weight to meet in the middle. Elbow under shoulder, hips stacked, abs tight. Video 2: exhale as you rotate under & toes, inhale as you bring weight to sky and lift leg. Pointed toes. Hips and shoulders stacked. Video 3: hips/shoulder stacked still, always maintain tension on band. Part 1: As you lift knee do not roll back hips. Part 2: draw small circles w/knee without losing tension on band- emphasis the up. Video 4: Part 1: reverse circles you start in video 3 (same rules apply ). Part 2: exhale flex foot and kick heel forward, inhale resist back in to 90*. Video 5: stable leg foot flat drive through heel to lift hips up, keep hips level. As you inhale tap the toes lift the weights to sky as you exhale pull the knee back up and lower the weights. Video 6: lift up on to your stable leg tippy toes, keep other leg in table top right over hip. Bring weights to forehead as you inhale, as you exhale extend arms up and kick leg straight up to sky toes pointed. Video 7: inhale open arms and lower leg, exhale lift leg up tap weights together. Work on keeping hips level and abs tight. Video 8: bicep curls as you curtsy lunge watch your front knee stays over ankle and back knee under hip. Slowly stand and draw moving legs knee to chest. Inhale down, exhale up. Video 9: lunge straight back, watch alignment with knees. front knee over ankle (weight in your heel ) inhale as you step back, exhale as you pop up. Hammer curls for this round. Video 10: bend standing leg, extend back leg out as straight as possible toes pointed. As arms bend, bend knee in and as arms extend back for tricep extension extend leg back out.
